“We cannot hope to create a sustainable culture with any but sustainable souls.”
― Derrick Jensen, Endgame, Vol. 1: The Problem of Civilization
At #Sangraha Atelier, we believe in a future where creativity meets sustainability, and every scrap of fabric tells a story of purpose.
#Zero-Waste Warriors
Did you know that in traditional cut and sew processes, up to 30% of fabric goes to waste? That's thousands of meters lost each year and added to landfill! Our 'Naani' (grandmother) would have made #quilts out of it or cut it better.
But fear not – we've resorted to old script and cut in geometric pattern cutting to save more.
To add further we're on a mission to find a purpose for every inch, turning waste into wonders.
just not waste items
Since the challenging time in 2019, we have been a warrior of #sustainability and ethics. We have been using our leftover textiles and scrap fabric by creating new SabTera pieces like patched jackets, dinner napkins, face covers, clutches and much more!
#scrap yardages
We collaborate with artists and work with women #daraz #artisans as part of our commitment of #reducing #textile-waste. Textile scraps and leftover textiles are used to create appealing yardages. We love to see our designs reinterpreted in these fabrics!
scrap #upcycling
Instead of using new materials, we now repurpose our scraps to create small potli bags for our lifestyle products! These little pouches can be reused to store jewelry, as a small coin purse, or however you see fit.
artistic beauty
We love to create opportunities for the community to appreciate #art and practice it with their textile skills and scrap fabrics, yarns and much more. In the past, we’ve hosted events where Sangraha presents these artworks co-created with trained artisans. A significant part of earnings from these works are reinvested in the community.
in future sangraha swaps
We intend to create a Sangraha community-led practice of #swapping. Soon we would have event for Sangraha fans to swap styles they no longer wear with each other.
Join our mission by facilitating the hosting. mail us at experience@sangrahaatelier.com with SwapWarrior as topic.
community projects
In 2024 we initiate our project on #craft awareness and sustainability. We will host craft stations at our events to encourage the creative reuse of Sangraha scraps. We will also have special workshops to make our #community #quilts and also #mending of loved and well-worn clothing. Visible embroidery patches with dashes of embroidery and daraz will give new life to our #memoirs in wardrobe.
